Engineer Cafe
“Fukuoka: A city where engineers gather, thrive, and grow.”
Opened on August 21, 2019, inside the Fukuoka Red Brick Culture Center as part of Fukuoka City’s “Engineer Friendly City” initiative. It was created through public-private collaboration to provide diverse opportunities for engineers to take on advanced challenges and expand their skillsets.
Fukuoka Red Brick Culture Center
Located near Nishinakajima Bridge at the boundary between the merchant district of Hakata and the castle town of Fukuoka, this building was completed in 1909 as the Kyushu branch of Nippon Life Insurance. Designed by Tatsuno Kataoka Architects, it features the British Queen Anne style, similar to Tokyo Station’s Marunouchi building later designed by Kingo Tatsuno. It opened as the Fukuoka City Historical Museum in 1972, became the Red Brick Culture Center in 1994, and has hosted Engineer Cafe since August 21, 2019. Today, it continues to welcome many visitors and engineers alike.
